I’m at Benicassim for 4 days with team NME! I’m having a hard time deciding which is best… the mud, rain, and amonia stench of Glasto, or the sun, beer and good times at Benicassim… hmmmm
Anyone fed up with British weather at the festivals, should really consider coming here, it’s pretty awesome.
Keep checking NME.com over the next few days for updates n that…
Adios!

WHAT A DAY.
Today has been buzzing, all the good shit happened this afternoon.
I managed to blag my way onto side of stage for We Are Scientists, so chuffed to catch up with the lads.
Bumped into the pigeons in the media centre, hung out with Glasvegas for a bit, big love for them… I missed their set due to being else where but I heard it was 40 deep trying to get into the tent!!
Then I shot Reverend and the Makers in the pit for the 1st 3, as I was just about to leave, I heard his voice over the PA… ‘DANNY’ … … I’m like what, me? ‘DANNY GET YOUR SELF UP HERE’…. I look up and John is pointing at me and talking over the PA in front of 10,000 people, ‘GET ON STAGE WITH ME!’ I’m like WTF!
So I climb up on stage, John gets the lampy to put the big lights on and asks the crowd to give the peace sign so I can photograph it in response to a negative review of him from Glasto when someone called him CRASS (!!!) telling people we need more peace in the world…
so I took the shot, then his manager Dave tells me to go one and shoot the whole show… And what a show it was, amazing to see a full to the brim tent LOVING the Rev. That was such a buzz.
Then after the massive disappointment of not shooting rage, with 30 minutes to go, the band relent and let the photographers into the pit for the 1st 3, no contracts etc… I was soooooooooooooo happy to get that news.
And they were AMAZING, stunning… I had tears of f*cking joy when they dropped Bulls On Parade. F*ck me. GOOD TIMES.
Then I leg it over to the NME/Radio1 stage to catch the Kaisers. I was quite worried about them getting a good crowd with Rage playing, but the crowd was HUGE! as big as any headliner should have, and they played an absolute stunner of a set.
Buzzing, proper good day.

Up at T this weekend with the NME team… Shooting with Whilsher and Cochrane, I was REALLY looking forward to shooting RATM but I heard yesterday that they aren’t allowing ANY photographers, not even the BBC… BADTIMES.
Anyways, here are 3 stranges I splattered against a GIANT T map.
Keep checking NME.com for regular updates through out the weekend.

Shot this on a very damp night in Huddersfield, with the lovely assistance coming from flickr.com/photos/bennehboy
The location was Ben’s idea, the set up was something I came up with in the hours before the shoot, all very last minute. I wasn’t given any time at all to come up with something. But I like it that way sometimes. Except Amelia’s Magazine has some pretty top notch photography, so the pressure was on…
